Power and Energy Minister Kanchana Wijeskera today said that the QR code system under the National Fuel Pass portal was successfully experimented after the initial technical flaws.
He said the pilot project will continue before going nationwide from next week.
The fuel quota as per the last number on the vehicles' number plates will ease the fuel queues in the next few days while expediting fuel distribution around the country.
The Minister thanked the filling station owners who supported the public that adopted and assisted the forces and volunteers who assisted in implementing it.
He said some filling stations did not adopt, some individuals manipulated, falsified and did not want this implemented.
The system, however, will be implemented across the country, according to the Minister. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)
